No flash in the pan, Red Mesa has been bringing smiles to the faces of residents and visitors to St Petersburg since 1996. The restaurant's roots run even deeper. Red Mesa owners Peter and Shawn Veytia, operated the popular 4th Street seafood restaurant Seabar since 1981.

The Veytias were joined at Seabar by Executive Chef Chris Fernandez, who grew up in the kitchens of Oaxaca, Mexico exposed to a great variety of foods and flavors. Chef Fernandez and the Veytias looked to their shared latin heritage and Red Mesa was born. The Red Mesa family has since grown to include the Veytia's two sons Dana and Pete.

Most recently, the new Red Mesa Cantina (redmesacantina.com) opened in the heart of downtown St Petersburg. Located at 3rd Street and 1st Avenue South (downstairs from Push Ultra Lounge), the Cantina offeres latin-inspired small plates, indoor and outdoor dining and two full bars. With late night hours and a new Sunday Brunch you have plenty of opportunities to try the Cantina.
